Grade 12 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni) Material Introduction
Grade 12 is a titanium alloy material with a nominal composition of Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni. This alloy was developed by the United States in the mid-1970s to replace the more expensive Ti-0.2Pd alloy. Grade 12 titanium alloy has high tensile strength, which is twice as high as pure titanium at room temperature, and has significantly improved corrosion resistance to reducing media. In chlorides at 150-200°C, grade 12 will not suffer from crevice corrosion. In addition, grade 12 titanium alloy also has good corrosion resistance and low temperature resistance, which makes it widely used in aerospace, shipbuilding, chemical equipment, and medical equipment.

Chemical composition and mechanical properties of grade 12
The chemical composition of grade 12 titanium alloy includes titanium, molybdenum and nickel, and its solution treatment temperature has a significant effect on the microstructure and mechanical properties. With the increase of solution temperature, the content of primary α phase decreases, the content of β transformation microstructure increases, and a large amount of secondary α' phase precipitates. At a solution temperature of 920°C, the hardness value reaches a maximum value of 240HV; when the solution temperature is 860°C, the alloy plasticity reaches a maximum value, and the elongation after fracture is 23%. The tensile strength and yield strength of grade 12 titanium alloy increase with the increase of solution temperature, while the plasticity decreases with the increase of solution temperature by 6.
In summary, grade 12 titanium alloy is a high-performance titanium alloy material with high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and low temperature resistance, and is widely used in many fields.
Grade 12 compared with other titanium alloys
Grade 12 titanium alloy has the following characteristics compared with other titanium alloys:
1. Corrosion resistance: The corrosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance in reducing acid and high-temperature chloride are significantly improved compared with ordinary titanium alloys.
2. Mechanical properties: The tensile strength and compressive strength are relatively higher.
3. Application fields: It is commonly used in various structural parts and components in the fields of aviation, shipbuilding, chemical industry, petroleum, military, etc., while other titanium alloys may have more outstanding performance in certain specific fields.
4. Chemical composition: It contains a specific proportion of molybdenum and nickel, which is different from the composition of other titanium alloys.
However, the specific comparison still needs to be comprehensively considered according to the specific application needs and performance requirements.
